Why is using plastic straws so bad?

Firstly, plastic straws themselves contain various toxic substances that are harmful to our health. Secondly, plastic straws can cause lasting damage to our environment.  In specific, plastic straws can remain in our environment for at least 200 years and – such a much longer time than our lifetime. Furthermore, plastic straws have become a dangerous threat to our marine life. When plastic straws start to break down, they turn into tiny little pieces of toxic parts. These parts then will be eaten by animals in the oceans, poisoning or even killing them. And guess what? We will eventually eat those poisoned animals, thereby poisoning ourselves.

What about plastic straws that can be recycled?
Yes, plastic straws can be recycled, however, it is much harder and more costly to produce new plastic straws than recycle them.  In fact, a very small quantity of plastic straws is collected and recycled. Most of them are thrown away and remain lasting in our environment or are disposed of by burning, then polluting the air we breathe. Therefore, the most effective way to protect our environment is to be aware of the bad effects of plastic straws and reduce our use of plastic straws or use alternatives that are made of biodegradable materials.

Have you heard about the European ban on plastics straws?

The EU and even many other countries intend to ban single-use plastic items, such as cotton buds and plastic straws. As a result, more and more people are switching to eco-friendly alternatives and the bamboo straws we are producing is one of the good alternatives for plastic one because bamboo is a sustainable, biodegradable,  and natural material.

How is Happy Present contributing to the solution?

Actually, it’s YOU who have major contributions to the solution! For each time you use a Happy Present Straw, you have chosen to have one less plastic straw which causes pollution to our environment. Besides, we can make sure that using bamboo straws will give you a much more awesome experience rather than using plastic ones and plastic ones would be never used again.

I bought a set of bamboo straws, but the cleaning tool does not fit the staws!
It does not matter! Because each naturally-grown bamboo tree has a unique diameter and thickness, each bamboo straw thereby has a unique size too. Therefore, the cleaning tool sometimes can not fit all the straws. Fortunately, you can easily adjust the size of the cleaning tool by cutting them a little with scissors to make it the perfect size for your straws.
